Overview

Cut accurate flange, ring, and irregular shaped gaskets with the heavy-duty SM4 Rotary-Style Gasket Cutter. Primarily designed for metallic gasket materials such as soft steel, copper, zinc, and brass. Also cuts non-metallic materials such as hard fiber, rubber, and Teflon. Cuts gaskets with a face width of 1/2" to 8 3/4"; from 3" I.D. to 28" O.D. Accessory scale bars (not included) extend cutting range from 28" I.D. to 54" O.D., or 54" I.D. to 80" O.D. Mounts to any workbench with 3/8" bolts (not included).

How do rotary-style gasket cutters work?

Rotary-style gasket cutters use two cutting discs to cut the material as it rotates around a center spindle. Set the scale bar to the desired outside diameter, punch a guide hole in the material, and secure it on the spindle. Lower the top cutting disc, then turn the hand crank or activate the motor while applying pressure. What is the difference between the M3 Motorized M3, and SM4 Rotary-Style Gasket Cutters?

The M3 is hand-cranked and mounts in a vise or clamps to angle iron, making it suitable for fixed or mobile use with non-metallic gasket materials. The Motorized M3 is bench-mounted and powered for faster, repetitive cutting of non-metallic gasket materials. The SM4 is a larger, bench-mounted manual cutter designed for both metallic and non-metallic materials.

The included scale bar cuts gaskets from 3 inch ID to 28 inch OD. Optional scale bars increase the cutting capacity from 28 to 54 inches and from 54 to 80 inches.

Which SM4 cutting disc should I use?

Use the metal top cutting disc for metallic materials and the non-metal top cutting disc for non-metallic materials. The SM4 ships with the metal cutting disc installed and includes the non-metal cutting disc. The bottom cutter works with both.

How thick of a gasket material can the SM4 cut?

The SM4 can cut materials up to 1/4 inch thick, depending on the material. Maximum recommended thickness varies, particularly for metallic and tough materials.

Can the SM4 Rotary-Style Gasket Cutter cut irregular shapes?

Yes. Remove the scale bar and manually guide the material through the cutting discs along the marked outline. An additional person may be helpful when guiding larger pieces.
