How do extension-style gasket cutters work?
Extension-style gasket cutters rotate around a center pin to cut precise circles. Place the gasket material on a suitable cutting surface, create a small center hole, and position the material over the center pin. Set the cutter to the desired outside diameter and rotate it around the pin to make the first cut. Then adjust it to the inside diameter and repeat the process to complete the gasket. What is the difference between Heavy-Duty Light-Duty, and Compact Gasket Cutters?
Heavy-Duty cutters feature a durable brass cutter block and offer the widest cutting range, making them a good choice for frequent use and larger gaskets. Light-Duty cutters provide a more economical option for standard gasket-cutting applications, with capacities up to 37 inches. Compact cutters are designed for smaller gaskets up to 6 inches and are easy to carry and use in the field.
What cutting range is available for the Allpax Compact Gasket Cutter?
The Compact Gasket Cutter cuts inside and outside diameters from 1/4 inch to 6 inches (6 to 152 mm). It includes both inch and metric markings.
Can the Compact Gasket Cutter cut straight strips?
Yes. Reposition the pivot post and guide the cutter block along a straight edge to cut gasket material into strips at the desired width.
Which cutting blade should I use with the Compact Gasket Cutter?
The Compact Gasket Cutter includes four blade styles for different materials. Use the pointed blade for general cutting, the curved blade for very thin materials, the lathe-style blade for rigid materials, and the rounded-tip blade for tougher materials.
